The Lucky One (2012) - Scott Hicks

Cheesy and the sad bits not particularly sad. It was an alright film, but Zac Efron's character seemed a little too nice. The only one that was remotely interesting was the antagonist, played by Jay R. Ferguson, who we feel deserved a little more back story.

The Hangover Part III (2013) - Todd Philips

Definitely the worst of the three. The only thing that made it really worth watching and special was the after credits scene, which was in a more similar vein to the first two movies. I was slightly disappointed by this one, as a big fan of the others.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) - Jim Sharman

What night in is complete without a lovely musical to sing along to? Rocky Horror is arguably the best at this. Whilst the lack of really jazzy numbers to dance to in the second half is disappointing, it does work as a sort of winding down film, and any fan will still enjoy Tim Curry's camp portrayal. It's weird that the day after we watched this, Tim Curry had a heart attack. Sad times. Hope he is well for the future.

Lilo and Stitch (2002) - Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders

As if loads of people haven't seen this movie. My friend Jade hadn't, so I sat her down to watch this. I don't think anyone appreciates this movie as much as they should. I have had to lend it out to many friends. Stitch may be the most genius creation anyone has ever come up with.

Jeux D'Enfants (2003) - Yann Samuell

It's nice to watch a foreign film every so often, even if it's hard to give it your full attention. Love Me if You Dare is good, but a bit too zany and surreal for my liking.

Les Misérables (2012) - Tom Hooper

This is even better now that I know all the lyrics. It was so good, that we watched it twice in one night.

Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (2004) - Beeban Kidron

I enjoy this film immensely. It's something of a guilty pleasure for me, and whilst not as good as the first one, it definitely lives up to the book by Helen Fielding, which is boring by comparison - not enough Hugh Grant in that.

Bambi (1942) - James Algar, Samuel Armstong, David Hand, Graham Heid, Bill Roberts, Paul Satterfield, Norman Wright

Not my favourite Disney film. To be honest, I think it's a tad overrated. It's not even that sad when that thing happens that everyone cries at. Not going to spoiler here, but if you don't know, you live under a rock.

A Bug's Life (1998) - John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton

Probably one of the least popular Pixar films. That's not to say it's not brilliant! Which it is.

The Great Gatsby (2013) - Baz Luhrman

I like the story, by F. Scott Fitzgerald more than the film. Don't get me wrong, it was a worthwhile movie, but I don't think I'd watch it a second time, and still be entertained. However, that being said, Leonardo Di Caprio shines through yet again. I feel that Luhrman just brings out a brilliant actor within him, something that Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (2012) failed to do.

Cinderella (1950) - Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske

I'm not a princess, but I like the characters of the mice, and I've met them when I went to Disneyworld all those years ago. Disneyworld, Florida is honestly the best place in the world. And it always will be, no matter how old I get. However, this film doesn't appeal to me as much as others. Maybe it's the female lead, or I just don't get it.
Anyway, the similarities between the king and the walrus from Alice in Wonderland (1951) - also Clyde Geronimi, Wilfred Jackson, Hamilton Luske are too much to get away from.

Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) - J.J. Abrams

A fantastic film. I'm not a trekkie, but when Sylar and Sherlock (Zachary Quinto and Benedict Cumberbatch) are in one film together, the inner geek is crying to get out. I loved them both, and they truly made the film. That's not to say that Chris Pine doesn't still shine (rhymes are fun), as Captain Kirk, because he does too. This film is everything I anticipated and so much more. Finally, a film that lives up to the hype, and a worthy sequel to Star Trek (2009) - J. J. Abrams. It's nice to see Simon Pegg get a bit more limelight in this one as well.

SPOILERS The Avengers (2012) - Joss Whedon SPOILERS

This movie. Just yes. Also, there's a bit at the start where the base blows up and Coulson (Clark Gregg) looks behind him, in exactly the same way someone in Buffy does when Sunnydale blows up in that TV series. It's so Joss, it's unbelievable. It's a very clever film as well. All that movie was planned by Loki, just so he could get back to Asgard. Think of the trouble he can cause from there, instead of in his exiled place! Anyway, that's just a theory, but it works, so yeah. What a brilliant clever film. Typical of Joss Whedon.

The Inbetweeners Movie (2011) - Ben Palmer

I am a big fan of the series, but I don't think it worked as a film. Even when it was just me, there's too much awkward silence, not enough background noise or music. It's like the TV show makers kept it exactly the same, and it really doesn't work as a movie, for the big screen. It makes me laugh, but not as often as a comedy should.

The Cabin in the Woods (2011) - Drew Goddard

Another favourite movie of mine. Wasn't concentrating as much as I should have been, but this is a very funny film. A bit like marmite, it seems you either love it, or not. I think the switch is what gets people. The film changes part way through it, but it really does subvert the genre.

Grease (1978) - Randal Kleiser

Myself and my totally plutonic friend danced the night away drunk to this movie, amongst other films and musicals. It was a good night. but Grease is one of those movies, it's just a good laugh to watch and sing along to (yes, we had the lyrics on screen): a literal feel good movie.

The Darjeeling Limited (2007) - Wes Anderson

Re-watched for the exam revision. It still surprises me with how good it is. And it is pretty damn good: the best.

Music and Lyrics (2007) - Marc Lawrence

This film is a boss rom-com. I particularly enjoy the song, and am strongly considering buying the soundtrack.

Love Actually (2003) - Richard Curtis

Possibly the best rom com of all time. I do love a good romantic comedy. By the way, all these films I watched for my exam on Friday (earlier this week), which I've been revising for, so I can probably be watching more films just for fun now.

Chasing Amy (1997) - Kevin Smith

The irony of the title of this film is not lost on me. I took notes on this film, and left them on my desk. My mate came in, saw the title and asked if I was planning a murder. Brilliant film.

Five Day Liverpool Filming Thing

There was a competition to film and edit something original in five days time. I wanted something to do, so I did it. It went well. I tried to be artsy. I don't know if I managed it. But here is the link:

It's my first film that I've finished for a while. I need deadlines. They seem to help me. Watch and enjoy. Or not.

Dead Man Down (2013) - Niels Arden Oplev

I really should watch more films relevant to the exam I have on Friday, but I know I won't. Sadly, action is not one of the chosen genres, but as a thriller love story thing, this film is a doozie, yet I know it will go, sadly, forgotten by the masses, like many Colin Farrell films.

Moonrise Kingdom (2012) - Wes Anderson

Fan-fucking-tastic! Took me a bit to appreciate it, but it's a realistic portrayal of how first loves feel about each other: against the world.

Bottle Rocket (1996) - Wes Anderson

As Wes Anderson's first ever feature film, it is lacking some of the stuff that makes the others so brilliant, but it is good in its own way. It has the tell tale quirks, not as much of the auteurship of the others, but hints at what is to come. A particular shot that shows his style is one where Luke Wilson climbs out of a manhole thing on to the roof, and it's just perfect symmetry. Another is where the two main characters go through Owen Wilson's plan for their life, and it reminds me so much of all his other films where they go through photo books or letters in the same unique style. So yeah, it's still a really awesome movie.
